How does Invisalign work at Smileology in Sevenoaks?
Consultation
At your first free consultation in Sevenoaks, we will talk through what you’d like to change about your teeth. We’ll assess your mouth, teeth and gums and take pictures using a camera and a special 3D scanner.
Clincheck
These 3D images will show you how your teeth will move during Invisalign treatment and how they will look after you’ve finished wearing your aligners. This means you get to see how your teeth will look before even starting treatment!
Treatment
When you decide to go ahead with Invisalign, the 3D images will make up your bespoke treatment plan. These are used to create a series of clear, plastic aligners which only fit your teeth.
Once these are ready, we invite you back to the dental practice in Sevenoaks to show you how to wear and remove your Invisalign aligners.
Completion
You will be given several sets of Invisalign aligners to take home. You wear your aligners for a minimum of 20 hours a day and then move on to the next set of aligners in the series. Continue in this way until you reach the last set of aligners, and your teeth have reached their final position.

Why do I need to remove my braces before eating and drinking?
We recommend only drinking cold water with your aligners in and taking them out for anything else that you consume.
You need to remove your Invisalign aligners before eating because you could chew straight through the plastic. If you drink anything other than cold water with your aligners, you will risk staining them which will make them look unattractive. It may seem like a pain to begin with, but you will soon get into a routine of removing your aligners quickly and discreetly before eating and drinking.
Why do I need to change my Invisalign aligners every week?
It’s important that you move on to the new set of aligners as instructed by your dentist because each set will fit your teeth for the exact moment in your treatment plan. As your teeth gradually move, so too do your Invisalign aligners need to match your new straighter teeth!
What happens if I lose or break an Invisalign aligner?
Don’t panic, call us at the dental surgery in Sevenoaks and we will decide whether it is best for you to move on to the next set of aligners in your series or revert to the previous set. For this reason, we suggest that you don’t throw away your Invisalign aligners after you’ve finished wearing them.
