Once you’ve had your first free consultation, we will take dental moulds of your teeth. These are used to create your bespoke fixed braces.
Placement
When ready, you’ll be invited to come back to the dental surgery in Sevenoaks to have the metal brackets applied to your teeth. This process does not hurt at all.
Adjustment
Sometimes, your treating dentist may attach small elastic bands to certain parts of your fixed braces to create extra pressure. This does not hurt and is nothing to worry about.

How long do fixed braces take to straighten teeth?
This really does depend upon the severity of your case. Your dentist can give you a more precise answer when you have your first consultation. Most patients find that their teeth are straightened between 6 and 18 months.
How often will I need to see my orthodontist?
Your orthodontist will let you know how often they want to see you. Usually this will occur every 4 to 10 weeks.

Fixed braces use brackets and wires attached to the teeth to move them gradually. The planned movements, appliance and treatment duration depend on the bite and alignment problem.
Who may be suitable?
Orthodontic treatment requires an assessment and a good standard of oral hygiene. Active decay or gum problems usually need to be controlled before treatment begins.
What are the risks and limitations?
Risks can include temporary discomfort, broken components, gum irritation, tooth decay, permanent white marks, shortening of tooth roots and relapse after treatment. Some cases require extractions or other procedures.
What should I know about aftercare and maintenance?
