Treatment

Completion

What is composite bonding?
Composite bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin that is bonded to enamel or dentine to alter a tooth’s shape, shade or contour. It may be used to improve small gaps, worn or chipped edges, discolouration and minor differences in tooth position.
Who may be suitable for composite bonding?
Suitability depends on an individual assessment. Your dentist will consider your oral health, tooth decay or gum disease, the amount of healthy enamel, your bite, tooth grinding and what you would like to achieve. Any active dental problems may need treatment first.
Does composite bonding require tooth preparation?
Composite bonding often requires little, if any, visible tooth removal, but this varies with the tooth and the planned result. The surface may be conditioned so the resin bonds securely. Your dentist will explain the proposed preparation before you consent.
Can composite bonding stain, chip or wear?
